Dear Patients and Friends,
After 26 years of providing care at EyeHealth Northwest, I will retire at the start of March 2025. Thank you for placing your trust in me these many years. It has been a privilege and a true pleasure to know you and to help with your eye care. These relationships, sometimes spanning generations of family members, are what I value and will miss most.
In 1998 I was the first ophthalmologist hired by the newly formed EyeHealth Northwest and was the only glaucoma specialist practicing east of the Willamette River. Today, EyeHealth Northwest has 39 ophthalmologists (including 9 glaucoma specialists) and 21 optometrists, providing top notch eye care all across the Portland Metro area. I am proud to have been a part of such an excellent practice that continues to prioritize personalized, highly skilled patient care.
Transitioning to another ophthalmologist in our practice should be seamless. Your chart lives in our shared electronic record. Many of you have seen other doctors in the office and your next appointment will be with someone you already know whenever possible. My colleagues in the
Clackamas County group are all highly trained, talented and personable and I have recommended each of them to my own friends and family members.

Although I’m retiring from clinical practice at EyeHealth Northwest, I will remain active in ophthalmology, continuing to serve locally with the Clackamas Free Clinic, the OHSU/Casey Mobile Outreach program and the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation. In 2026, I’ll join the Board of Directors of the American Board of Ophthalmology which oversees board certification of US ophthalmologists. I love skiing and singing with the Choral Arts Ensemble of Portland and greatly look forward to spending more time with my wife of 35 years.
