Dr. Ian Christensen is a comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery as well as medical and surgical management of a wide range of eye diseases including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and dry eye. He has a particular interest in premium intraocular lens implantation with the latest technologies designed to optimize vision following cataract surgery.
Dr Christensen was born in Provo, UT but was mostly raised overseas in China due to his father’s work in the US Foreign Service. He is therefore fluent in Mandarin, Chinese and conversational in Spanish and loves to use his linguistic abilities at work. He completed his undergraduate degree in Chinese Language and Literature at Brigham Young University and attended medical school at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious University of Southern California Roski Eye Institute where he was recognized for his advanced surgical skills and unique ability to connect with a diverse array of patients.
Dr. Christensen lives in Portland with his wife and two cats and enjoys hiking, camping, biking, and playing pickleball.
