We are pleased to announce the arrival of our newest ophthalmologist, Dr. Jason Skalet. Dr. Skalet joins our group July 9th, seeing patients in our Oregon City and Milwaukie offices. He has spent the last 4 years since completing his fellowship as the sole referral cornea and uveitis specialist for East Bay Kaiser Permanente, in Oakland, California, servicing a population of approximately 300,000 patients.
In addition to general ophthalmology, Dr. Skalet is adept at the surgical and medical management of all corneal and external eye diseases, including complex cataract surgery. He is one of a few fellowship trained specialists in ocular inflammatory diseases in Oregon and southwest Washington. These diseases include scleritis, iritis, pars planitis and posterior uveitis, all conditions commonly associated with rheumatologic disorders. While at Kaiser he often worked with network rheumatologists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with a wide variety of multisystem inflammatory disease.
While in California, Dr. Skalet had an adjunct faculty appointment at UCSF, where he was held in such high regard that he was asked to mentor cornea fellows in his clinic and operating room. Because of his expertise in handling complicated cases, he served as a referral specialist for other corneal specialists within the Northern California Kaiser system.
Dr. Skalet enjoys taking care of both adult and pediatric patients with complex corneal and anterior segment disease and uveitis. He is also looking forward to providing the full gamut of routine eye care, including diabetic exams, cataract checks and glaucoma care. Our Oregon City office is near I-205 next to Providence Willamette Falls Hospital, easily accessible from most Willamette Valley locations. Our Milwaukie office is just off Hwy 224 in the Milwaukie Marketplace. Please call (503) 656-4221 or visit My EyeHealth section of our website to schedule an appointment.
